She is the oldest child of Tony and Barbara Minardos and has two younger sisters, Nicole and Christina. After winning Miss Teen USA, Minardos moved to New York City to pursue a modeling career. She has appeared in print and television advertisements for companies such as L’Oréal, CoverGirl, and Clairol. In 1990, she appeared on the cover of Teen magazine.
