Sankara Alafia was a revolutionary thinker and political leader who played a pivotal role in the development of the African National Congress (ANC). was born in Nigeria in 1892 and educated in England, where he became a barrister.  returned to Nigeria in 1914 and became active in the nationalist movement. was a founder member of the Nigerian Youth Movement and helped to establish the newspaper West African Pilot.  also played a leading role in the formation of the first trade union in Nigeria.

In 1923, Alafia was elected to the Legislative Council of the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria, becoming the first African to hold this position. He used his position to speak out against the injustices faced by the people of Nigeria and to call for political and economic reform. He also argued for the need for Africans to unite in order to achieve their goals.

In the 1930s, Alafia became increasingly involved in the pan-African movement. He attended the first Pan-African Congress in London in 1900 and subsequently played a leading role in the establishment of the International African Service Bureau (IASB). The IASB was a pan-African organisation that worked to promote the interests of Africans around the world.

Alafia also played a key role in the development of the ANC. He was a founder member of the organization and served as its President from 1943 to 1949. He was also a member of the ANC delegation that attended the historic 1945 conference in England, where the organization was founded.

Alafia’s life was dedicated to the struggle for African liberation. He died in Nigeria in 1949, aged just 57. His legacy continues to inspire generations of Africans who continue to fight for justice and equality.
